No Dental, No Power, No Agents: Indicators Of The Week

A lot is happening in the world right now. Congressional Democrats are still stuck trying to pass both a bipartisan infrastructure bill and a multi-trillion dollar social spending plan. Opposition is coming from a lot of business groups, including the American Dental Association, representing more than 160,000 dentists in the U.S. Their letter argues against a provision that would extend dental coverage to Medicare recipients.

Meanwhile, China is having blackouts across the country and government policies are at least partially to blame. China’s energy generation depends on coal and coal prices are rising rapidly.

Our final Indicator looks at Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson negotiating his contract without an agent. The implications may be serious for agents who represent pro-athletes and typically take a percentage of their income.
