MONTEREY, California , HISPANIC PR WIRE / – Honda today said its 10 ° Manufacturers Championship NTT INDYCAR series WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with a place on the podium of the Grand Prix Firestone Monterey .
The title secured today comes on the 25th anniversary of Honda’s first IndyCar Manufacturers Championship, which was recorded on September 8, 1996, with a 1-4 result for Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Alex Zanardi and Jimmy Vasser . Vasser claimed the first Honda drivers’ title at the same event.
Honda’s top-three finish was led by Andretti Autosport’s Colton Herta, winner of the top position since the game for the second time in a row, just as he did on the series’ final visit to Laguna Seca in 2019. Herta led all but four laps in today’s 95-lap event and headed for his second win of 2021.
Championship points leader Alex Palou finished second, beating Pato O’Ward by 35 points, with a pending race. Former F1 driver Romain Grosjean advanced from 13th on the grid and survived a contact late in the race to finish on the podium at Dale Coyne’s No. 51 with RWR Honda.
Graham Rahal finished just off the podium in fourth position, with Honda taking the top four positions of the day. For Rahal, it was his seventh final of the year.

- This is Honda’s ninth 15-race INDYCAR victory this season, and the manufacturer’s second consecutive 4-spot win. Palou won the Portland grand prix last weekend, and was followed by fellow Honda riders Alexander Rossi, Scott Dixon and Jack Harvey .
